Twenty-five-year-old man assaults two policemen

Hohoe, Aug 11, GNA - A 25-year-old porter, Devine Ankor, on Monday beat two policemen who attempted to wrestle from him his 17-year-old step-daughter he was assaulting in front of a police station.
Ankor assaulted Inspector Kofi Appiah-Ntori, in-charge of Bla Police station, when he went to the rescue of Lance Corporal David Dzata who Ankor was thrashing.
Eye witness said Ankor, who is believed to have magical powers, sent the policemen falling to the ground upon reciting some incantations and screaming loudly.
It took the bravery of an elderly man, who pleaded for anonymity, to arrest the otherwise violent Ankor to the surprise of onlookers.
Mr Appiah-Ntori told the Ghana News Agency that Ankor vented his anger on the policemen when they attempted to stop him from beating the girl.
The step-daughter, Happy Afenyo, said she was carrying out instructions from her mother not to allow anyone, including Ankor, to enter her bedroom and this infuriated Ankor.
Mr Appiah-Ntori said Ankor would be arraigned soon on possible charges of assault and resisting arrest.
