Asantehene counsels the youth against occultism and cyber fraud

Kumasi, Aug. 6, GNA - Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has advised the youth, especially those in second cycle and tertiary educational institutions, not to engage in the practice of occultism and cyber fraud.

These, he said, were vices that could potentially undermine their academic progression and wreck their future.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who gave the advice in a message to the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council (ARSRC) at their 12th Annual Congress in Kumasi, said the growing indiscipline of the present generation of young people should be a cause of concern for all.

School authorities and parents needed therefore to join hands to protect them from endangering their future through indiscretion and socially reprehensible practices.

The five-day meeting taking place at the Prempeh Senior High School has as its theme: “Control of Cyber Crime and Occultism among the Youth: The Role of Student Leaders”.

The Asantehene noted that the youth were the bedrock of the nation's workforce and economy and for that matter it was important they avoided acts likely to impact negatively on the country's development.

He encouraged to them to be serious with their studies so that they would realize their God-given talents and be of useful service to the society.

Mr Joseph Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, said it was his expectation that, the congress would be used to take stock of the past activities of the ARSRC, to guide it to chart a new path to enhance its role in the development of the youth.
