Techiman, (B/A), July 9, GNA – A day's workshop on the drafting of 2010 Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) for urban, town, zonal and area councils in the Techiman Municipality on Thursday ended at Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The workshop organised by the Ahenbronoso Care Foundation, a Techiman based Non Governmental Organisation and funded by IBIS-GHANA was attended by 120 participants drawn from the councils in the Techiman Municipality.
It was aimed at equipping the participants with skills to facilitate preparation of the MTDP of the Municipal Assembly.
Mr Davis Boamah–Asumadu, Executive Director of Ahenbronoso Care Foundation, explained that the workshop would empower the area, town, zonal and urban councils to make a positive impact on the developmental agenda of the assembly.
He said it was also designed to promote and ensure good governance, participatory democracy and the rights of inclusion in decision making process.
He called for sustained capacity building for traditional authorities to enable them to address issues relating to HIV/AIDS, child labour and health.
Mr Stephen Agyemang–Badu, Budget Analyst of the Assembly emphasised the need for community involvement in the preparation of the plan and asked the participants to work towards the realization of building a better Ghana.
