Prophet Praise Davidson Tegbey, 28, General Overseer of the Glorious Prayer Ministry, Nkwanta, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a minor.
Mr Douglas Kumah, Nkwanta District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency, that Prophet Tegbey purportedly defiled the 16 year-old Junior High School student when she, in the company of two others, went to watch a movie in his room on June 25, this year.
He said the victim who fell asleep in the process woke up at about 11pm and could not find her colleagues.
Mr Kumah said the victim who tried to open the doors, noticed it was firmly locked without the keys and therefore demanded to leave by calling out to the suspect, but was forcibly sexually abused.
He said Prophet Tegbey became inquisitive when the victim did not show any sign of going to school the next day.
Mr Kumah said it took the persistence of the victim’s mother for the victim to reveal her ordeal at the hands of the “Man of God”, so the case was reported to the police.
He said forms were issued to enable the victim to seek medical attention, leading to the arrest of Prophet Tegbey.
