Accra, July 2, GNA - Parents have been called upon to let the education of their wards become their number one priority and invest more in it.

“The efforts that you (parents) will put into the education of your child today are exactly what you will reap tomorrow,” said Mrs. Mercy Agbenorm, Officer in Charge of Okaikoi Sub-Metro Educational Directorate.

Addressing parents at the first graduation ceremony for some 50 pupils who passed out from Apenkwa Presbyterian Kindergarten 2 on Thursday, she appealed to parents to constantly visit the schools of their wards to acquaint themselves with their academic performance and offer the necessary assistance.

She praised the headmistress of the school, Madam Victoria Akrong, for defying all odds to start the kindergarten section of Apenkwa Presbyterian Primary and Junior High Schools.

In a brief history of the kindergarten, Madam Akrong said the school which started in 2008 in an abandoned building with three pupils now has about 81 pupils.

She thanked the Apenwa Presbyterian Church Board and the Okaikoi Educational Sub-metro for their support in her quest to establish the kindergarten.

Madam Akrong appealed to the stakeholders of the school to come to its aid with furniture, learning materials and a sick bay.

“I will also plead with all stakeholders to complete a block which was started by our former Member of Parliament in 2004 and also fence the whole school,” she added.
