Accra, June 30, GNA - Discover Africa, a non-governmental organisation on Tuesday donated food items and clothing worth 8,000 dollars to the Street Academy School for the upkeep of the children.
Nii Narh Noye, President of the organisation said Discover Africa was set up to help deprived children especially those on the streets.
He said the organisation donated some items to the school, two years ago to improve the poor condition of teaching and learning and pledged its continuous support to the academic facility.
Mr Ataa Lartey, Head of the school, received the bags of rice, cooking oil and clothes and commended the organisation for fulfilling the promise.
The school supports 460 children, 93 of whom are studying in the school while the rest are in secondary, technical and universities on scholarships. The children do not pay fees and are encouraged to develop interest in learning.
Others are sent to learn trades such as dressmaking and hairdressing.
