Takoradi, June 25, GNA - The Western Regional Office of the Food
and Drugs Board (FDB) on Wednesday organised a one-day training
workshop for 80 sachet water producers who belong to the Regional Sachet
Water Producers' Association.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr George Pentsil, FDB Zonal Officer
in-charge of the Western and Central regions, called on sachet water
producers to adhere strictly to the Food and Drugs Law which demands
high personal and environmental hygiene in food and water production.
He said some sachet water producers are infringing the law by failing
to ensure good environmental standards in their production rooms and
personal hygiene of their staff.
Mr Pentsil said the government reserves the right to order the closure
of sachet water plants whose management persistently flouts the law.
He urged sachet water producers to fix labels on their products to indicate the name and address of the manufacturer.
Mr. Pentsil advised sachet producers to regularly and properly clean
tanks used to store, to filter water and to clean their machines before producing water everyday.
