Lok Bandhu Karki A young man from Nepal, who abandoned the comfort of his home on December 7, 2004, to cycle around the world for the sake of peace, is now in Ghana.
The “Peace Ambassador”, Lok Bandhu Karki, arrived in the country a couple of days ago to continue his campaign. Ghana is his 28th African country of visit, having crossed 57 countries already.
After covering 69,385km with his bicycle Karki on Monday June 15, 2009 visited the offices of the Indian Association.
Looking tired and withdrawn, he distributed pamphlets about peace and brotherhood mainly stressing on the message of no guns, no bombs, no murder, no rape, and no terrorism.
Karki told the Indian Association that he has spent nearly $44,000 since his peace campaign kick started some five years ago.
According to the cyclist, he hopes to complete his tour of the world in 2013 after covering 113 countries.
“I have so far toured 57 countries and Ghana is my 28th African country,” said.
The Indian Association has since volunteered to cover all expenses related to his stay in Ghana among others. He would be leaving Ghana for Burkina Faso as he takes his peace message to the rest of the world.
