Tarkwa, June 18, GNA - A Tarkwa Circuit Court has remanded a 27-year-old porter (cocoa carrier) Samuel Baidoo into police custody for giving a 19-year-old Victoria Akoto medicine to terminate her pregnancy.
He pleaded guilty and the court presided over by His Lordship Samuel Obeng Diawuo ordered him to re-appear on June 24.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Albert Adiita told the court that the victim who lives with her parents at Adidase near Manso Amenfi was impregnated by the accused in March.
He said the accused mixed a drug called Cytotec with milk to the victim to drink with the hope that it would help terminate the pregnancy.
He said on June 6 parents of the victim detected their daughter was ill and took her to the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital.
When she was examined, it was found that the drug she took had an adverse effect on her.
A report was made to the police and he was arrested.
