Nkoranza (B/A), April 29, GNA – The Management of Scholars In-Transit (SIT-UP), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo, has commended the Bible Society of Ghana for promoting the study of the Bible in communities.
Reverend Frank Peprah Twumasi, Chief Executive Officer of SIT-UP who told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Nkoranza on Wednesday said he was very appreciative of the way the society had been encouraging the church to teach the youth about the Bible.
He said the most significant event of the Bible Society was the launch of its “One million Bible project”, under which it distributed thousands of Bible copies to people in deprived communities.
Rev. Twumasi said the activities of the Society were in the right direction, and added that the Society recently supported the NGO in distributing more than 6,000 Bibles to students in 49 public Junior High Schools in Nkoranza South and North.
He said follow-up visits to the beneficiary schools had revealed that there had been a remarkable improvement in the proficiency of the students in English language.
Rev. Twumasi said the NGO would soon introduce a Bible quiz competition among students in communities and prizes would be given to deserving participants to motivate them to continue to read the word of God.
He advised parents to encourage their children to read the Bible regularly in order for them to live above reproach and develop good morals.
