UK Methodist Team Gives Bus To Gyahadze Village

A 15 man delegation from the United Kindom chaplaincy branch of the Ghana Methodist Fellowship has presented a 19-seater bus to the Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village on orphanage at Gyahadze, near Winneba.

Presenting the keys of the vehicle, the leader of the delegation, The Very Rev. Williams Davies, said each member of the church in UK. contributed 50 pounds with a set target of 20,000 pounds to purchase it.

He said the vehicle was to facilitate the smooth movement of inmates of the village to hospital in times of sickness and other places of interest, and also to facilitate the movement of staff members to and from the village.

Receiving the items on behalf of the village, the Director, Very Rev. Ekow Sey, thanked the U.K. branch of the Ghana Methodist Fellowship for the gesture and hoped it would help in the smooth running of the village.

He said the village now houses 14 inmates made up of 10 boys and four girls with 11 residential and three non residential.

The Director General of the Board of social Responsibility and Development, Methodist church, Madam Gladys Odoi, said the church had contributed immensely to the upkeep of children at the orphanage.

She said in the wake of the global economic downturn, Rafiki Foundation, their main sponsors in the USA will not be able to support the project as they use to and appealed to the U.K branch of the Methodist church to continue to lend the required support to the village.

The Bishop at the Winneba Diocese at the Methodist Church, Right Reverend (Dr.) Ekow Ghanney, thanked the U.K branch for their constant support to institutions in Winneba and prayed that their effort would be rewarded by God.
