Hon.President J.J.Rawlings, I read with dismay a lot of nonsense that people have written as their response to your speech at Jirapa in which you called N.P.P ministers "A bunch of thieves". May I get a copy of the speech to confirm that it is true you made such a BOLD statement. I don't want to believe that a past President who ruled a peaceful nation like Ghana for close to twenty(20) years, made such a divisive statement in public. The word 'All' is implied if 'SOME' is not used.
Without saying some, do you mean all N.P.P. ministers are thieves? May I advice all peace loving Ghanaians that language at rallies can lead to instability and should be refined. Such pronouncements undermine our democracy as they ridicule hard working citizens. If you have hard intelligence or evidence that people have stolen from the State, present such to the adequate authorities immediately for the law to take it's course. Can you say with confidence that ALL the ministers in your era were 100% clean and NONE stole money or property of the State?. Ghanaians voted for Prof.J.E.A.Mills to lead the nation for a brighter future and so far, He is doing an excellent job. I believe sincerely that you love Ghana. You took power in a coup and under your leadership a lot of unlawful things happened. I don't want to remind people of the atrocities they have tried very hard to forget. I know you regret some of the things that happened if you really care about Ghanaians.
Everyone wants progress, accountability, and moral responsibility. What you are advocating by your public appearances and utterances is what you called "accountability and Justice" in your era that led to gross INJUSTICE and the unlawful assassination of citizens. I cannot say any of them were innocent or guilty because none was properly tried. Can you Show Ghanaians evidence of the trial of Okatakyie Afrifa? He was picked up and Shot in cold blood. There is a lot to do for the masses as the Hon. Vice President Mahama wisely said, and I commend him for speaking with respect for the people. I am not saying that those who may have stolen from the State should go free. No not at all. If anyone has evidence of wrong doing, it is a civil responsibility to report to the authorities for urgent action. People should respect our democracy by respecting Past, Present, and future leaders. Party politics should not make us enemies. After elections we
should all come together to build our nation. We will be going back instead of forward if ALL we cherish is calling people 'names' simply to score political points. It is unfortunate that a past President is also involved in such a mediocre act. Hon. Rawlings, I congratulate you for ensuring the continuity of our democracy by handing over power in 2000. Hon. Kuffour have done the same. The two of you are the only living Ex-Presidents. Please, try to be a statesman whose views are respected by all. And to those who openly insulted Hon. Rawlings in their comments, please let us respect our past leaders. They served this Nation. Thank you and God Bless Ghana. Let us all live in PEACE and not in PIECES.

The man Rawlings is not someone you can advice, because he has an 8 year old brain, and he is one person who will NEVER heed to any good advice. His character is beyond description!
