Students of Publishing Studies Department, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), had donated GH¢10,000 towards the establishment of a printing press that would serve as a demonstration centre for the department.
The department has in addition purchased two colour offset printing machines estimated at 69,000 euros for the project, while the German manufacturers, Heidelberg Company had offered 18,000 euros.
Mr Kingsley Sarfo-Mensah, President of Ghana Book Industry, presenting the money was optimistic there would be greater involvement of student leaders in the implementation of the project.
Mr Reuben Glover, Head of Department, thanked the students for complementing efforts of the university authorities and appealed for more assistance for logistics and training facilities.
