The festival is organized by African design concepts of USA and Heritage international club of Modena both non profitable voluntary organizations, African design concepts of new York was established by a group of asante citizens in new York in 1985,headed by a native of bonwire owura Bosompim kusi to promote the kente cloth history,Ghanaian culture and language through the use of the authentic kente cloth fabrics throughout the USA.

Heritage international club,modena was founded the year 2000 by kwabena joe micheal and vida amos to promote youth activities and African heritage

through the mass media and entertainments in Modena.

The Kente as a royal commodity in Africa is getting through a total innovative development at the world stage. Thanks to African Open Markets 2009. This is the first time in modern history that entrepreneurs/vendors and customers coming together digitally. The festival is slated for 30th to 31 may, 2009 in Italy and June 27, 2009 in New York.

This cultural event is centred in promoting and marketing African, Caribbean, and Afro-centric products and services. As a result of this innovative cooperation, entrepreneurs/vendors will be able to connect with millions of customers around the world. A Grand made in Ghana showcase will be presented to display Ghana's domestic products that include textiles, hair and skin care products, artworks, ethnic foods, and the authentic woven kente clothe in its many wearable fashions, Ghanaian entrepreneurs of men and women will showcase their various merchandise on site.
