Residents of Menang near New Edubiase in the Adansi South District have appealed to the government and the district assembly to reconstruct the six-kilometre New Edubiase Junction/Menang feeder road which is in a deplorable state.
The road has gradually become impassable especially during rainy seasons and as a result drivers refuse to ply the road or charged exorbitant fares.
Opanin Kwaku Owusu, a spokesperson for the residents, told the Ghana News Agency that Menang and its surrounding communities produce large quantities of cocoa, timber and foodstuffs and as such the road needed greater attention to ensure easy movement of these products.
He said bridges had collapsed thus allowing streams to overflow their banks causing damage to the road.
Opanin Owusu commended the government and the assembly for linking Menang to the national electricity grid.
