THE IMMEDIATE past Regional Crime Officer of the Upper East Police Command, Superintendent/Mr. Victor Seth Abgetornyo, has commended media practitioners in the region for their high sense of professionalism, neutrality, and good reportage, which had contributed to bringing peace to Bawku.
In a mini get-together with a section of the practitioners, at the weekend in Bolgatanga, Mr. Abgeornyo said the role of the media in the Bawku crisis was very crucial, and any mistakes committed, could have affected the entire nation.
He observed that the media could make or unmake, and therefore urged practitioners to maintain a high level of professionalism and neutrality in their reportage, and be more circumspect in their daily activities, especially on issues that bordered on regional or national security.
The media practitioners took turns to ask security-related questions, which the officer addressed.
They described Mr. Agbetornyo, as a father to all the practitioners, because was open and easy to contact, whenever the need arose.
Last Friday, there was a friendly football match, between Media X1 and the Ghana Police Service, preceded by a send-off-party, organised by the Regional Police Command, all in honour of Mr. Abgetornyo and his successor, Superintendent Emmanuel Adufati.
Other officers included ASP/Mr. Chapman Sigward Gadzo, the out-going Bolgatanga Municipal Crime Officer and his successor, ASP/Mr. Kwame Owusu Sakyere.
The Regional Police Commander, DCOP/Mr. Mensah-Ofosu Gyeabour, commended Supt. Agbetorny and ASP Gadzo for their dedication to duty, and wished them well at their new stations.
