The usual pressure associated with police work along the country's borders seems to be absent in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region due to low rate of criminal activities in the District.
The District recorded 53 criminal cases out of which 24 were assault while stealing accounted for the rest including one armed robbery.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nicholas Gasu, the District Police Commander made this known in a report on the security situation in the District Assembly's newsletter at Gwollu, the district capital.
He said indications were that these figures were likely to go down because only 16 cases comprising eight for assault and the other eight for stealing had been so far recorded in the District this year.
Mr Gasu said, "we are enjoying an appreciable level of peace and stability because the people are largely peaceful and I have not also relented in my efforts to stay on top of criminals".
DSP Gasu however said lack of residential accommodation for personnel had denied the station of its complement of staff.
The station also needed a vehicle to enable them to move and respond rapidly to any danger in any part of the District, he added.
