Mr George Kuntu-Blankson, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman East, has a given an assurance to continue to improve the road network in the constituency.
He said as a National Democratic Congress (NDC) incumbent MP, the development of the road linking it to the outside world, was one of his prime concerns.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Kuntu-Blankson said the lack of an effective road network in the constituency was posing a major difficulty to the distribution of farm and fishing products.
Mr Kuntu-Blankson said in partnership with Nana Paul Saigoe, the Nkosuohene and Ekumfi Tufuhene, both of the area as well as the Transportation Minister, Dr Richard Anane, the roads network would soon see an improvement.
He said he was doing everything possible to have most of the roads tarred and described as untrue a claim that Mr Kwamena Amuesi Andoh the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in the area initiated the recent efforts to improve the roads in the area.
Mr Kuntu-Blankson mentioned some of the roads for which he was lobbying the sector Minister to improve as the Nanabin-Narkwa road, 8.1kilometre Adansi-Ebiram-Ekumpoano-Akra stretch of road, for which 25 culverts had already been provided and Ayisam-Takyiman-Enyan-Apaa Stretch and the Ekoti-Akansa Kokoado-Gyinankuma roads.
He said a lot of work had been done so far to tar the 2.75 kilometre Abor Tekyiman feeder road.
Mr Kuntu-Blankson appealed to the people to renew his mandate come December 7, 2008 in order not to delay or cut short the effort he had put in to improve the road transport network in the area in addition to other development projects a such as the provision of potable water and markets.
