Reverend E.T. Tekpetey, Director of Church Life and Nurture (CLAN) of Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has called on Christians to ensure themes selected for their annual conferences made positive impact on their lives.
He said “We expect themes of conferences to impact on the lives of Christians as they grow into maturity spiritually, morally, mentally, socially, financially, physically and politically.”
Rev. Tekpetey made the call when addressing the 26th Annual National Delegates Conference (ANDC) of Presbyterian Men's Fellowship in Koforidua.
The three-day conference was under the theme “Let Us Go On To Maturity- How to Please God.”
Lieutenant-Colonel J.Y. Asamoah (Rtd), National President of the Fellowship said the theme of the church for 2008 had helped members to identify their shortcomings and offered an opportunity to amend their ways and matured into God's grace.
“We are convinced that there is a price to pay to grow and commitment is the price,' he added.
Lt-Col. Asamoah said members of the Fellowship had been challenged with the theme for the conference and should positively respond to God's invitation to support a worthy cause.
“The Fellowship had once suffered a jolt. Growing unto maturity is the clarion call. Let us together rise up to the occasion for though our strength appears unequal to the task, our effort would make the church great and please God.
“In this wise, we would be praising the great and famous men who once sacrificed their material and human resources to build edifices for God's glory,” he said.
Lt-Col. Asamoah called on the General Assembly of the church to engage the Women's Ministry in the church to map out strategies that would address indecent dressing among the youth especially girls at church service and in the society.
He called on Christians to lead the crusade to keep the environment clean and extend same to mission schools to inculcate cleanliness in children at their tender age.
