The Iranian Government in collaboration with the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran, yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote human resources development in Ghana
The memorandum is to establish a mutual understanding between Ghana and Iran to help re-establish prosthetics and orthotics center in Ghana.
The Minister for Health, Major Courage Quashigah (rtd), said the objectives of the (MoU) are the re-establishment of the prosthetics and orthotics center in Ghana, the establishment of a supervisory board for the center, the exchange of information and expertise between Iran and Ghana on medical rehabilitation and provision of training to Ghanaian students.
Major Courage Quashigah (rtd) said the (MoU) will further help to improve the limb fitting rehabilitation center by improving and updating skills of its human resource and above all engage in the exchange of ideas with Iran to improve health service delivery.
He said the Ministry of Health is on the discussion to take advantage of the vast pharmaceutical industry of Iran including traditional medicine to improve the availability of quality and affordable medicine to improve health care delivery in Ghana.
The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ghana, H. E.Valiollah Mahammadi said they would sign a pact with the International Red Cross which will help improve developmental activities and human resource in the health sector.
He also said, very soon Iran will help deal with HIV/AIDS, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and other sexually transmitted disease in Ghana.
