The Ghana National Association of Teachers has praised Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on her elevation to the position
of Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Irene Duncun-Adanusa, General Secretary of GNAT, the Association said the Governing Council of the University had made the right decision by appointing Prof. Opoku-Agymenang the first female Vice Chancellor of a public university in Ghana.
“Coming from a background of strict academic discipline and outstanding professional delivery, we have no doubt in our minds that you will relentlessly work in your new role as the Chief Administrator and academic leader of the University of Cape Coast, the premier teacher university, to promote sound academic and professional programmes which should impact positively on the delivery of quality education in the schools and colleges in our nation, Ghana.”
GNAT pledged its unflinching support “for this well-deserved achievement”, which would motivate and promote in others the desire to achieve excellence in their various fields of endeavour.
