Mr. Kiki Djan one-time member of the famous Osibisa Band has emphasised the need for drug peddlers and addicts to refrain from the illicit act since it is against the constitution of the country.
Frail looking Djan who says he is a refromed addict made the call in an interview with The Accra Mail over the weekend in Accra. He was spotted at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre during the launch of the Tin-Topic Soldiers of Christ Band.
Kiki Djan who was hooked to hard drugs for about 21 years said: "If I have been saved, anyone in such a situation should know that it is all not over."
The forty-four-year-old organist said he would propose to the United Nations (UN) to engage him as an Eminent Person to talk against the use of hard drugs. He said his global campaign will be on the theme, "Say No To Drugs."
Kiki Djan said he has collaborated with church bands to champion the cause of a drug-free environment, adding that he occasionally visits churches and other institutions for his anti-drug advocacy programme.
To those still hooked to drugs his message is: "Say no to drugs. If anyone offers you a drug just remember what it did to Kiki Djan and your spirit would be strengthened."
He gave gratitude to God for saving his life and also thanked all those who contributed to the success of his career.
Kiki Djan is a popular musician who started playing the piano at the age of five and went professional at the age of 12.
He started using drugs, which led to the downslide of his career. He currently heads a band called the Golden Chariots.
