As part of the contextualisation
process of education in Ghana, we
should be capable of making certain
changes that we feel will enhance
the ability of our children to perform
well in the classrooms and later to
contribute well into the development
in the country. We do these things
without allowing impediments from
outside to block our view to consider
the interests of our children and our
country - By: Desmond Ayim-Aboagye

NEW: Ghana Tourist Villas offers an unforgettable holiday and business experience in Accra.
UNICHEM Ghana Limited, a pharmaceutical company, has donated a GH¢1,100 worth of Vetlexzen, veterinary drugs to the Ghana Veterinary Medical Association (GVMA) for its outreach programme of deworming of small ruminants (sheep and goats) at Teiman, near Oyarifa in the Greater Accra Region. The deworming exercise formed part of a week’s activity organised by the association to mark World Veterinary Day which was on the theme “The diversity of the Veterinary profession.”

Other activities included the launch of radio discussion on the theme, television panel discussion on the theme and seminar on “Biosecurity of emerging zoonoses in poultry.”

Jointly presenting the drugs, Ranjeet Jamdar, Ethical Pharmacist and Mike Addoquaye, Marketing Manager both of UNICHEM Ghana Limited, said the health of people is paramount, hence the company’s decision to collaborate with the GVMA.

They said their company, which has been in the pharmaceutical business for 40 years, believes that deworming animals would help improve the health of people.

Receiving the drugs, Dr K.B. Darkwa, president of the Ghana Veterinary Medical Association, stressed the need for farmers to keep their small ruminants healthy and thanked UNICHEM Ghana Limited for the sponsorship.

He said measures which have to be taken to keep these animals healthy, include their vaccination against viral diseases known as PPR (Pets Des Ptites Ruminants) which attacks them especially during the rainy season.
