Dr. Modibo Tiemoko Traore has been appointed the Food and Agriculture Organisation Assistant Director General Regional Representative for Africa’s head office based in Accra.
Dr. Traore, 54, a Malian, succeeds Eduoard Tapsoba who retired from the Organization early in the year.
Dr. Traore has since assumed office.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Production and Health, University of Paris, France.
Until his appointment, Dr. Traore was the Director of Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources of the African Union, Management Administration and Coordination of projects and programmes, Nairobi, Kenya.
He was the Malian Minister for Rural Development (Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries) and water Resources (1997-2000) and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of Mali to People’s Republic of China (2000-2004)
