REV. BERNARD Oduro-Twum, Western Regional Licensing Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has cautioned drivers to beware of unscrupulous persons who might come to deceitfully take huge sums of money from them with the promise of getting them the new computerized driving license.
According to him, the situation where certain persons posed as officers from DVLA and deceived drivers was a thing of the past.
He emphasized that the process of acquiring the new computerized driving license could not be carried out on behalf of another person and that the driver needed to be present to go through the process.
To this end, he said, it would be difficult for anyone to pose as an agent of DVLA to acquire license for another person as happened during the issuing of the old driving license.
Rev. Oduro-Twum made these remarks in an interview with DAILY GUIDE last Tuesday.
He indicated that the process of issuing the new driving license was more convenient and better than the old one since it would take a driver not more than two weeks to have it, after going through the necessary processes.
He appealed to drivers whose licenses had expired to go personally to any DVLA office nationwide for the new one.
He explained the process of acquiring the new license, saying drivers or prospective drivers needed to have two passport size photographs endorsed by the Licensing Offices, have a form filled and pass an eye test.
He said the information would then be sent to Accra for processing and within a few weeks the driver would be issued with the new driving license.
