Sgt. George Asah, one of the soldiers who eluded arrest when the hideout he and others were using for suspected criminal activities near Caprice in Accra was raided, has been arrested and handed over to the Police by the Military Police.
Divisional Commander, Nima Police, Chief Superintendent Awuni Angwubutoge told DAILY GUIDE that the wanted Sergeant was brought to the Police yesterday.
The military, the Commander said, had asked the Police to continue with their investigations.
The Military Police, he said, had earlier taken the other suspects away but returned yesterday and handed over the wanted George Asah.
It would be recalled that the Kotobabi Police stormed the base of the suspected criminals after a whistleblower called their attention to certain activities at the spot which they suspected to be dangerous.
During the operation, the Police were able to apprehend a 41-year-old Sergeant Abdul Rauf of the Ghana Army, Baba Ibrahim, Emmanuel Boateng and Samuel Sewornu.
A taxi cab, found at the point of arrest, as well as military accoutrement have been impounded by the Police.
Also found at the scene were dried leaves suspected to be narcotic, knives and other tell-tale items.
The suspects made their first appearance in court yesterday.
