The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) has cautioned the public against handling fallen electrical conductors.

The wind accompanying recent rains in the country has affected electrical conductors. While some conductors end up sagging, others fall off completely, leading to power outages in various areas.

In a public notice, the ECG has cautioned the public not to go near any electrical conductor that sags or falls during the rain, stressing that they could be fatal.

“ECG wishes to caution all and sundry to be extremely careful during rainy days not to go near any sagging or fallen electrical conductor since it could be fatal,” ECG said in a release.

The company wants the public to report individual or localised outages and incidents of fallen or sagging conductors by calling the ECG Call Center on 0302-611611.

Meanwhile, the Electricity Company of Ghana has assured that its engineers are always on the ground working tirelessly to strengthen and maintain a robust distribution network to keep the lights on.
