Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has admitted that Ghana’s power sector is currently battling some challenges.

This comes amid the persistent, irregular, and unpredictable electric power outages (dumsor) in the country.

Speaking at a breakfast meeting with NPP regional leaders on Monday, April 29, to kick off his nationwide campaign for president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia assured that the Energy Ministry is working around the clock to address the power challenges.

“I know that there are challenges, we are going to work on them. Currently, we have issues with power, the assurance from the Minister for Energy is that those power challenges will very soon be a thing of the past, they are working at it,” the Vice President who is also flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his address said government will continue implementing innovative solutions in the power sector.

He said very soon, no one would queue to access power services.

“For the first time in our history, people can buy electricity units on their mobile phones, we take it for granted now but a few years ago you had to go and queue at the ECG payment center to buy electricity,” Dr. Bawumia said.

During his nationwide campaign, the Vice President will engage the media, hold town hall meetings, and continue with his regular stakeholder engagements.

He will use the coming months to sell his message to Ghanaians in hopes of being elected president at the end of the presidential election on December 7.
