A man has died after allegedly being struck by a police patrol vehicle in Accra and subsequently abandoned by the officers.

According to a report by 2024 NDC parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central, Baba Sadiq, a patrol vehicle suspected to belong to the Mile 7 Police Station ran into a man, identified as Khaled Iddris, on Wednesday morning, April 24.

"This dawn, a police patrol vehicle suspected to be driven by a patrol team from Mile 7 Police station run into this young man, Khaled Iddris in the image below and left him for dead," said Sadiq in his social media post, sharing an image of the deceased.

The NDC parliamentary candidate bemoaned the fact that the agency meant to protect the citizenry are rather engaging in activities that are harming them.

"It’s very sad that, the people meant to protect us continue to intentionally kill hardworking young citizens of the country," Baba Sadiq wrote.

According to him, “These acts by some miscreants & unethical members of the Ghana Police Service needs to be thoroughly investigated."

He alleges the Mile 7 police patrol team have a history of "unlawful arrests, extortion, intimidation & lawless acts."

He said his own investigations within the constituency highlight these issues.

The MP hopeful is calling on the new Tesano Divisional Police Commander and police hierarchy to look into the incident.

So far, the Ghana Police Service has not issued a statement regarding the allegations.
