The Public Relations Officer of the True Drivers Union, Yaw Barimah, has warned the government and law enforcement agencies regarding the recent transport fare increment.

In a statement, Barimah threatened that if any drivers from their union are arrested, they will retaliate by bringing the country to a standstill.

He said, "We don't have guns or arrows, but we will ensure the country comes to a standstill. We can assure them that no car will move in or out of the country if their drivers are arrested.

"We have told our drivers that if any police officer arrests them, they should not fight, but instead take their keys out of the car, allowing the police officer to push the car and send the passengers to their destinations."

Speaking on ABUSUA FM, the PRO cautioned that the union stating, "We have not broken any law, and if the passengers follow the government's directives and their fare is not up to the required amount, they will walk."

The Ministry of Transport on April 14, 2024 directed security agencies to monitor transport operators charging fares above approved rates.
