Mr. Pharm Harrison Abutiate, Chairman of the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy, advocates for government focus on the pharmaceutical sector to alleviate unemployment in Ghana.

He emphasizes the need to reduce reliance on imported pharmaceutical products and proposes the establishment of Pharm Parks across the country to attract investment and ensure security for investors.

Abutiate's remarks were made during the press launch of the 3rd West Africa Pharma Healthcare Exhibition, slated for May 8th to 10th, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Center.

The event aims to connect Ghanaian and West African pharmaceutical and medical healthcare companies with global suppliers, fostering collaboration and innovation in the sector.

The exhibition, organized by Wegvoraus Exhibition, India, under the auspices of Ghana's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Trade and Industry, will feature manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, pharmacists, and dealers of pharmaceutical machinery from various countries. With a focus on "E-Pharmacy and Digital Health," the event seeks to explore digital solutions and innovations beneficial to the Ghanaian pharmaceutical industry.

Thomas James, project director, highlights the event's agenda of seminars and conferences to facilitate discussions on impactful ideas and innovations for the sector.

Anthony K. Ameka, CEO of FOAMEDDMS, emphasizes the importance of collaboration, regulatory frameworks, and digital literacy to maximize the benefits of digital health solutions in West Africa, including Ghana.

The growth of the digital health sector presents both challenges and opportunities, requiring investment in digital literacy programs, regulatory frameworks, and cybersecurity measures to support sustainable adoption. Overall, the pharmaceutical sector holds promise for job creation and economic growth in Ghana, with concerted efforts needed to harness its potential for the benefit of the nation.
