A/R: Philanthropist hands over ultramodern computer lab and library to Appiadu Basic School

A philanthropist has handed over an ultramodern computer laboratory and library to Appiadu Basic School in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

According to the family, they wanted something that could last forever in honor of their late father, Frempong Asubonteng.

Naana Konadu Frempong, a daughter of the late Frempong Asubonteng speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the facility on March 27, 2024, indicated that the biggest investment in life is education, therefore entreated parents to invest in their wards' education.

"We thought of the aforementioned facility because the world has moved from the manual way of doing things to a digital way.

Our late father, Frempong Asubonteng was a scholar and there was nothing better to honor him with than this facility,” she stated.

She stressed that it's important to impact positively the lives of people in societies and, therefore called on stakeholders and other organizations to support the needy at all times.

"The late Frempong Asubonteng was their father who hailed from Appiadu in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region and there was no better place to put up such a facility in honor of our father than Appiadu," she stated.

She noted that her younger brother birthed the idea of the ICT Center and the Library in honor of the father Frempong Asubonteng who was a scholar.

"When my younger brother who was the first to become a doctor in the family brought the idea we did not hesitate to rally behind him to bring the thoughts to reality,” she added.

Naana Konadu Frempong indicated that education is the key to success, adding that parents must ensure their wards get the best education.

In an interview with OTEC news reporter, Sarkodie Samuel, she noted that education is the key to success and requires huge investment.

Mrs. Dorothy Opare Baidu, the Municipal Education Director of the Oforikrom Municipal Education Directorate thanked and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the family for the kind gesture.

She entreated heads of the schools to ensure that the pupils use the facility to their advantage to enhance teaching and learning.

She used the opportunity to call on other stakeholders and organizations to help fence the school's compound.
