Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on indigenous business owners in the country to register their businesses.

The Vice President made the call on Monday, March 25, when he held a fruitful interaction with the Council of Indigenous Business Association in Accra.

According to him, although the Council of Indigenous Business Association is the largest informal business group in Ghana and contributes significantly to job creation and the development of the economy, many of its members are excluded in so many things as they are not formalised.

Dr. Bawumia argued that once they are registered, it will ensure their businesses benefit from government initiatives to inspire their growth.

“I, therefore, encouraged members who have not yet registered their businesses to do so, in order to benefit from government initiatives, which are aimed at boosting their businesses.

“I also explained to them, in detail, my proposed tax reforms, including the business-friendly proposal for tax amnesty for businesses and individuals, as well as a flat tax rate, to support the growth of businesses,” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia shared in a Facebook post after the meeting.
