The Church of Pentecost has announced that the final funeral rites for its former chairman and prominent Ghanaian clergyman Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy will be held on February 17, 2024 in Accra.

Apostle Dr. Ntumy passed away on December 27 at the age of 65 after ailing for some time.

He had a distinguished career serving the church for over 30 years in various leadership positions.

Born in 1958 in Dadieso in the Oti Region, Apostle Dr. Ntumy rose through the ranks to become the fourth chairman of The Church of Pentecost, serving two terms from 1998 to 2008.

He also held several other prominent roles including director of literary works for the church, president of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, and vice president of the Bible Society of Ghana.

In recognition of his service, Apostle Dr. Ntumy was awarded the national honour of Order of the Volta by the government in 2006.

The late clergyman, per sources, faced many challenges throughout his life and ministry.

During the Liberian civil war, he was held hostage and survived assassination attempts including physical assaults and poisoning.

He later suffered paralysis forcing him to use a wheelchair before his demise.
