Petitions Diaspora Petitions The Parliament of Ghana Speaker of Parliament
JUN 7, 2023 LISTEN

The Parliamentary discussion of this day 7th June 2023 should be put on record that the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament has proved that his common-sense interpretation of the goofed stance of the Supreme Court of Ghana on citizenship, makes us all wonder now if he Bagbin is a Ghanaian.

Ghanaians in the Diaspora, many of whom had to prove their citizenship to Ghana were made to provide birth certificates to allow governments across Europe and the Americas to classify us as Ghanaians.

Policy makers in the chamber, tend to assume that they are all above the rest of the Ghanaian populace when it comes to common sense and even intellectuality, however when one takes the time to listen in on any given session, it becomes all clear that many of these people in Parliament speak NOT on behalf of the people they represent but rather do stomach politics by saying things that they themselves see as what they would do under the circumstances rather than knowing that the people they represent may have liked it otherwise.

On behalf of the millions of Ghanaians in the Diaspora, we hereby petition the Speaker of Parliament of the fourth republic on Ghana to prove to Ghanaians if he himself is a Ghanaian, and what constitutes a Ghanaian under the laws of the country and international law as a whole.

Until he does that, many are those that would continue to see him as an illegal speaker of Parliament, and therefore anyone that takes anything said under his watch and key do so at his or her own peril.

Ghanaians need a clear declaration of who a Ghanaian is and who isn’t. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana has constituted who a Ghanaian is, so the goofed stance of the Supreme Court of Ghana is shameful.
