The auditioning of the “Star Grab the Mic” competition for the Eastern/Volta Zone has been held at Ho, the Volta regional capital.

The event, which is aimed at unearthing a musical icon to become an ambassador for Star, the premium quality beer, attracted over 200 contestants from the two regions.

In what turned out to be a night of keenly-contested musical renditions, Roland Williams emerged the winner and took home GH¢500. The first runner-up, Grace Boateng received GH¢300, whilst third-placed Francis Abass had GH¢200 as his prize. The winners also received star-branded souvenirs and products.

The Judges were Cox Tamakloe of Multimedia broadcasting fame, Mawuli Hector Ayivor of Ho's premier radio station and Hiplife star Krontihene.

The winner (Roland Williams) and the first runner-up (Grace Boateng) have qualified to compete in the national finals which will reward the winner with a whopping cash prize of GH¢4,000, a recording contract, a lucrative endorsement deal and branded souvenirs – all from Star, the nation's favourite beer.

Speaking to the media, the Snr. Brands Manager of Star, Jesse Agyepong said the Star Grab The Mic train moves to Takoradi next week (25th July) for the Western/Central regions zonal competition.
