Dzesinyornu, Women of Colour, an all-women band is set to announce its presence on the Ghanaian music scene with a big bang.

The group would on April 24 rock Ghana from the Alliance Francaise, where it would be launched with a grand concert, anticipated to pull a large crowd. The group would perform variety of songs with real Afro-pop and African rhythms.

The night would however not be for the women alone as it would also feature acts from Victor Dei, Daniel, and Philip Aqua among others.

The enthusiastic band is made up of Della Hayes - lead vocals, Abena Pomaa - guitar, Feehi Ofoli - percussion/flute, Judith Agbottah - electric bass, Sita Korley - keyboards, Sarah Owusu - drums and Dzidzo Mensah - backing vocals.

They have put together a wide repertoire which is described as 'hopperdepop and happerdepip mixed with a bit of hipperdepip'.

The group is led by singer Della Hayes, the brainchild behind the formation of the band in the early 1990s. Della is a Ghanaian-acclaimed vocalist, with a career spanning 36 years. She sings a variety of songs, writes as well as composes most of the songs herself.

She always sang in the shadow of others, but has now decided to do “her own thing”, and will release her first CD, From Africa with Love, Volume 1, on the night of April 24.
