The search for Miss Malaika 2008 begins

THE search for a beauty queen, to step into the able shoes of Miss Laurie Naa Lamiley Lawson - Miss Malaika 2008 - shifted into full gear over the weekend, when a bevy of 16 beautiful young ladies were introduced to the public.

This year's Miss Malaika delegates were introduced at a launch ceremony, which came off at the Crown Apartmento Hotel in Accra, last Saturday August 30.

The 16 Malaika delegates are Akosua Agyemang-Abrokwah, Faustina Michelle Ayonka, Christabel Ekeh, Christine Ofori, Daisy Edem Attu, Erika Thompson, Ivy Wereh, Mamata Adams, and Nadra Osman.

The rest are Rachael Obeng-Somuah, Sandra Odamtten, Sermira Adams, Tamara Aku Dzormeku, Naa Yemoley Tetteh, Yvonne Eyram Kofigah and Ama Sitsofe Sedegah.

The ladies will engage in 13 weeks of competing activities, and fun that is directed towards character building and creating excitement for the reality show.

The Malaika show has since its inception, been placed as a reality TV show, and the series has already began showing on GTV every Sunday at 2:30 p.m., and on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to vote for their favourites to win the competition, by texting their names to MTN short code 1758, and on any other network.

The search for the “Most Beautiful Girl in Ghana,” is sponsored by KIA, MTN, Darling, Allure, Gino, Lux, UB, and Forever Easy, and produced by Charterhouse.

The queens from this pageant would embark on a year-long Malaria eradication campaign, which aims to cut drastically the prevalence rate of Malaria in Ghana.
