BOSS 93.7 FM, the latest radio station in Kumasi was officially launched recently amid pomp and pageantry.

The emergence of Boss FM brings to 20 the number of radio stations in the Ashanti regional capital.

The much talked about radio station officially started transmission on Monday, July 28.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering at the launch, Kwasi Kyei Darkwa, a renowned showbiz personality called for the total elimination of 'mediocrity' which he observed was predominant in the radio industry and the media landscape in general.

Radio as an industry, he said, was now flooded with half-baked presenters whose actions and pronouncements were having harmful effects on the noble profession.

To help save the situation, KKD, as he's popularly known, suggested radio station owners strictly employ qualified and professionally trained journalists.

Transmitting around the clock, Boss FM aims to work to become a leader in the broadcasting industry.

KKD was confident that Boss FM would bring the required professionalism and decency into the industry.

The launching, held at the plush Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi was graced by gurus in the radio industry, chiefs, politicians, business executives among other professionals.

In his succinct remark, the CEO of Boss FM, Mr. Kwaku Owusu Asante said the establishment of the radio station was his quota to national development, expressing hope that the station would make a positive impact on Ghana's development.

The Guest of Honour, Nana Adusei Atwerewaa Ampem I, Tepamanhene, urged media practitioners to shun acts that could jeopardize the peace of the country and rather play significant roles to help develop Ghana.

The Tepahene entreated media practitioners particularly radio presenters to use their medium to educate, entertain and inform listeners devoid of malicious intentions.
