Princess Ifeoma The auditorium of the National Theatre last Sunday night reverberated to the sound of music from the international star Princess Ifeoma of Nigeria and others from our local scene.Dubbed “The West African Praise Concert”, the bill lived up to its pre-show hype. Though the auditorium was not jammed packed as anticipated, the fairly large crowd did enjoy themselves thoroughly judging by their applause, dancing and singing throughout the show. Opening with a musical interlude that featured a few local artistes such as Alfred Pare, Collins Nyantachie and his wife Ophelia Nyantachie who got the audience extremely excited with their presentation featuring a lot of dancing especially by two young girls who thrilled the audience. The Love Preachers, a quartet, were a revelation and had the audience nodding and tapping their feet to their mainly traditional songs. It was not all music as the organisers provided comedy segment which was ably handled by a Nigerian comedian, young Kingsley Orji who got the audience warming to his act which was very matured and professional. After his wonderful presentation, Moses OK fired the auditorium with another professional presentation which got the audience on their feet.Stella Addo kept the tempo up with her good singing and fascinating stagecraft. Her combination with one of her dancers really got the audience screaming in delight.Pastor Jane from Nigeria warmed the stage for Princess Ifeoma and took the tempo up to pave the way for the Princess Ifeoma, who sang in three Ghanaian languages namely Fanti, Twi and Ga to the delight of the audience who were just waiting for her entry.Obviously surprised by her proficiency in the languages she sang in, the audience sat glued to their seats forgetting to dance to her wonderful renditions. After her opening songs, Ragga Muffin, a musician who sang gospel songs on the ragga and reggae vein delighted the audience with a couple of songs after which Kingsley Orji came to sing again. The Princess made another entry and this time the audience joined her to sing and dance. Then Prophet Seth Frimpong made an appearance and really shook the foundations of the National Theatre with his Me Huri So song. Everyone in the auditorium stood and danced. That the prophet's song is hugely popular is an understatement. That crowd loved him and he did not disappoint them with his well rehearsed routine.Ministering in between the three songs he did, he got the audience to pray, dance, sing and cheer him throughout his delivery. Nobody sat until he left the stage. He was not only a good singer and dancer but a good preacher as well.Princess Ifeoma rounded up the show keeping the flame lit by Prophet Frimpong with songs from her Dependable God album. It was a good package, the only snag being the non appearance of some of the advertised performers.
