2007 Ghana Music Awards-Batman Samini tops them all

Hiplife artiste, Batman Samini has emerged as top winner at the Ghana Music Awards event held at the national theatre on Saturday.

He was crowned Artiste of the Year and picked up awards for Pop Song and Record Song of the Year titled Samini Music.

Earlier this week he won Radio Song of the year. King Ayisoba’s “I want to see you my father” was adjudged the Most Popular Song and Traditional Song of the Year.

However, last year’s top winner Ofori Amponsah won three awards, Highlife Song of the Year, Highlife Artiste of the Year and Album of the Year with his hit Emmanuella.

Obrafour of heavy fame won three awards including Hiplife Artiste of the Year, Hiplife Song and Best collaboration with Kofi B.

On the gospel terrain, Kwaku Gyasi of Oyame Aseda swept the gospel category grabbing Best Gospel Song, Gospel Artiste and Gospel Album of the Year. Christiana Love won the Best Female Vocal and D’ Banj of Nigeria won African Artiste of the Year.

Earlier this week, individuals and institutions were honoured for their contributions to the development of Ghanaian music. The music awards festival ended on Sunday with a beach jam at the La pleasure beach here in Accra.
