In line with the goal of empowering traditional institutions and festivals to promote Ghanaian tourism globally, the organizer of the 2016 Ada Asafutufiami Festival in consultation with Chiefs, Queens and Elders of the Ada Traditional area has confirmed ace broadcast journalist and National Tourism Ambassador (under the Ministry of Creative Arts & Tourism), Dr Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, know in entertainment circles as ‘Abeiku Santana’ as the ambassador for this year’s celebration.

CEO of SMF, organizers of this year’s event Mr Juwaid Abdallah Sika, announced this at a press ceremony in Accra.

Dr Abeiku Aggrey by this prestigious title is required to help promote the festival and market the rich heritage of the people to a larger global audience.

Abeiku Santana is the host of Okay FM’s late afternoon show, ‘Ekwanso Dwodwoo’ and also operates a tourism consultancy firm in Accra.

Different activities and durbars will earmark the cerebration with patronage chiefly expected from other parts Ghana and abroad.

“We’re expecting more tourists to attend this year’s event to boost our tourism potentials as a nation” – Abeiku Santana said in his acceptance speech. He further noted that, this year’s event is highly being promoted online so that it get more people involve and provide the platform for Ada to showcase their cultures to the world.

“I’m elated to have been chosen by our distinguished Chiefs for this assignment and I promise my best to the elders in contributing to brand and selling our rich heritage to the world” – He said.

The 2016 Annual Ada Asafutufiami Festival is being organized by SMF in collaboration the Ada Traditional Council with support from sponsors and media partners.

The event aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the good people of Ada inculcating in the youth of the area a sense of peace and tranquility in developing their society.

The festival will take place from 4th to 11th August 2016.
