The family of late Ghanaian veteran actor, Nii Odoi Mensah is angry with entertainment personalities Socrate Sarfo and David Owusu for allegedly peddling falsehood about the actor.

According to them, the two are fueling false reports that the family needs $68,000 to bring the mortal remains of the late actor back home from China. The reports they say are untrue.

Head of the Family, Nii Kwa, who is also the elder brother of the late actor, explained to Adom FM’s Adu Kumi that they are yet to be furnished with any information concerning the amount of money needed to bring the body back Ghana.

Nii Odoi Mensah, who was the former President of the Ghana Actors Guild, passed away Tuesday, April 12 in China where he had gone for a kidney transplant.

Speaking to some media persons during the one-week celebration of the actor at the Greda Estate, Teshie Nungua, home of the late actor, Nii Kwa vented that Socrate Sarfo came out with the $68,000 figure without any evidence or consultations with the family.

This, he said, is clearly aimed at disgracing the family.

The family also downplayed claims by David Owusu that they won’t be able to raise the needed amount to return the body home for burial.

Nii Kwa noted that no member of their family has been buried outside the country and Nii Odoi won’t be the first. The family stressed that they will do whatever it takes to bring the body back home for burial.

Nii Odoi Mensah’s family expressed their disappointment in the Ghana Actors Guild for not showing up or sympathizing with them a week after the death of the actor. No actor has visited the family, the family spokesperson added.

According to the family, they expected a lot more from the Guild and actors considering the sacrifices and contribution their beloved made to the growth of the actor’s association and movie industry.

Nii Kwa, on behalf of the family, appealed to the government to help them return the actor’s mortal remains back to Ghana for burial.
