11.11.2015 LISTEN
By Sir Article.

For the year 2015, yours truly has exploited his blogging potential in advancing the cause of our entertainment fraternity which proved remarkably resilient. There have been a few unpardonable shortcomings in the game of entertainment, but the giant strides made cannot be overemphasised. Therefore, I deem it appropriate to do a comprehensive review of the arena of arts and entertainment in our country Ghana. "The Year of Wonders" as I call the year 2015 in our arts and entertainment sector, has seen an appreciable increase in the value of investments with a commensurate output by our talents. So here are the major news items in each month for the year 2015. Thanks to GhanaWeb Archives which provided me with some monthly entertainment news for the year under review!

JANUARY 2015 - "HUGH MASEKELA CAME TO GHANA TO WATCH UNCLE EBO WHYTE'S 'WOMEN ON FIRE' PLAY."

Award-winning South African trumpeter touched down in Ghana only to watch an exciting play by Roverman Productions at the National Theatre in Accra. Celebrated playwright, Uncle Ebo Whyte's "Women on Fire" was acted live on stage to thrill a great audience from a variety of backgrounds, which ended up being a huge success.

FEBRUARY 2015 - "SARKODIE WON 10 NOMINATIONS AT THE 2014/2015 VGMAs."

Multiple award-winning rapper, Sarkodie did it again when he was shortlisted in ten different categories such as "Artiste of the Year," "Best Rapper of the Year" and "Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year." In fact, Sarkodie's musical works in the previous year were quite formidable to merit all the nominations.

MARCH 2015 - "SARKODIE'S EMAIL ACCOUNT GOT HACKED!"

An unknown hacker broke into Sarkodie's official email account which is used for his music transactions. Funny enough, the hacker impersonated Sarkodie through the hacked account to beg for money from the artiste's contacts.

APRIL 2015 - "STONEBWOY WON THE 2014/2015 VGMAs' ARTISTE OF THE YEAR."

The Bhimsident or President of Bhim Nation, Stonebwoy Burniton shocked the vast majority of entertainment adherents in Ghana when he was crowned as the reigning artiste in our music industry by the VGMAs. Kudos to Stonebwoy because he really deserved it by all standards!

MAY 2015 - "M.ANIFEST IS UNDERRATED - OBRAFOUR LAMENTED."

The acclaimed King of Hiplife music, Obrafour lamented on #RyseNShyne with Akosua Hanson that Ghanaian Hiphop star, M.anifest is underrated here in Ghana. He stated that, "M.anifest, that young man, for me I think he is one of the biggest acts in the country, but he is underrated..."

JUNE 2015 - "STONEBWOY WAS CROWNED AS THE BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT-AFRICA AT THE BET AWARDS!" and "#NEWGUY BECAME GHANA'S BIGGEST MUSIC COLLABORATION EVER."

After winning the "Artiste of the Year" award at the 2014/2015 VGMAs, Stonebwoy went ahead to grab the most prestigious award which has catapulted him to international stardom. But before this unprecedented achievement in the life of Stonebwoy, Sarkodie collaborated with iconic American rapper, Ace Hood on #NEWGUY which gained massive airplay and telecast on radio and TV respectively.

JULY 2015 - "STONEBWOY LOST HIS DEAR MUM."

Stonebwoy was devastated by the sudden death of his mother at the height of his career success. Unfortunately, his source of life, i.e. his mom did not live to experience the reality of his son's endless prospects which have just begun.

AUGUST 2015 - "IT WAS SARKODIE HISTORY IN THE MAKING AT THE APOLLO THEATRE IN NEW YORK CITY!"

History was indeed made, maybe not for the first time, when Sarkodie lead a vibrant team of Ghanaian artistes to rock the Apollo Theatre in New York City. The likes of EL, Bisa Kdei and Shatta Wale all performed for an energetic crowd made up of mainly Ghanaians. In all, it was a frenzied show which has been firmly fixed in the annals of our music history.

SEPTEMBER 2015 - "IT WAS NANA ABA ANAMOAH'S TWITTER 'WAHALA'!"

News spread like wildfire in the harmattan season when award-winning journalist, Nana Aba Anamoah photoshopped a picture of some individuals at the Old Trafford. The football freak who happens to be a diehard fan of Manchester United was subsequently suspended by her former employers, TV3 Network for an irresponsible behaviour.

OCTOBER 2015 - "HAMMER OF THE LAST TWO AND OBRAFOUR CELEBRATED 18 YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP IN THE BUSINESS OF MUSIC."

The Last Two music group which was initially a merger of a virgin beatmaker, Hammer and a virgin rapper, Obrafour has now become the greatest record label in the history of our music industry. This is because Hammer and Obrafour churned out classic tracks and albums which dominated our music circles for a decade. And these two heavyweights in rap music and record production have raised a couple of music stars like Sarkodie, Edem and Kwaw Kesse.

NOVEMBER 2015 - "SHATTA WALE SACKS BULLDOG AS HIS MANAGER AND MAKES WILD ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM!"

Well, we are still in the month of November and Shatta is definitely in the news. He blew Bulldog out probably because of contractual inefficiency on the side of Bulldog. For Shatta Wale has made dreadful allegations against Bulldog which insinuated that his former manger is alleged to have murdered someone. However, we can only pray for truth and peace in the ongoing row so that it does not degenerate.
