Veteran actor Asonaba Kweku Darko, popularly known as Super OD has expressed worries about the apparent neglect of older actors by many movie producers in the country.

According to him, unlike Nigeria, where movie producers make good use of veteran and experienced actors, Ghanaian producers don't like the services of older actors, adding that they even want young and inexperienced actors to play the roles of older people in movies.

“The filmmakers… I don’t know why they don’t come for us. If you look at Nigeria, elderly roles are played by elderly people. But here in Ghana, it’s not like that. They pick young ones to depict elderly roles,” the Osofo Dadzie star lamented.

The actor was speaking in an exclusive interview with Atinka FM on Friday on the evening news' segment “Amanfoso”. The veteran comedian is currently based in Agona Swedru, in the Central region.

He debunked the assertion that older actors charge so much hence the decision by movie producers to ignore them.

“I want to tell them that we are still around. We are not expensive. If they are put off my our perceived high charges, we will be reasonable and reduce our fees for you,” Super OD, who perfectly does a rendition of football commentary involving Ghana and Nigeria , assured.

The actor, who is well respected in Ghana’s movie industry for his talent, also revealed that he had fourteen children with different women but five of his children had passed on.

The Osafo Dadzie television star said he was still strong and had been resting at home after finishing his last production, 'God's Will,' last year.
