On Wednesday, August 16, one of the three finalists of the maiden Miss Africa Queen pageant will be selected to represent Ghana at the continental contest to be held in Accra.

The selection exercise, according to the organisers, XYZ Agency, will be at a strictly-by-invitation event at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.

The three finalists are Fawzia Koray, Eunice Kyereh and Monica Mbilla. One of them will get the nod to compete on the ticket of Ghana at the continental (public) show to be held on Saturday, September 2, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra.

Fawzia and Monica are students of the University of Ghana, Legon, while Eunice is from the Central University College, Accra.

They were selected out of tens of beauties who presented themselves at the preliminary selection sessions during which they were taken through weeks of "grills and drills".

Sources close to the organisers, XYZ Agency, have said that so far 15 other contestants from across Africa have registered to contest in the continental show in Accra.

The pageant, according to the organisers is aimed at creating a platform for women of African descent to display their beauty and also help to address issues affecting their communities.

The event is sponsored by Unique Trust, International Commercial Bank, GTV, Citi FM, 6/6 Vision Limited, Pi-nella, Adzedu of Shapes, PC4Everyday, House of Essentric, Simbins Furniture, New Jesse Jewellery, Fredina Tours, Westec Security, Ovation, Bose and FC Klinic.
