Obour has done nothing for MUSIGA - Appietus declares interest

When nominations for MUSIGA president opens, music producer popularly known as Appietus will be challenging the incumbent Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obuor.

Appietus says the president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Obuor has failed to live up to expectations he created four years ago when he was entrusted with leadership.

"Obuor's term is almost over and he did not do all the things he said. For four years, nothing has been done about all the structures we put in place to help up and coming artistes”.

In an interview with Black I on Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) on Hitz Fm Wednesday, Appietus accused Obuor of neglecting the future of Ghanaian music by focusing on the past.

"There was a lot of concentration on the old musicians than the future generation and it's very worrying because they are the future generation who will hold this industry" he added

Appietus known for his works with the likes of Daddy Lumba (DL), Ofori Amponsah, Kwabena Kwabena, Wutah, Sarkodie, , Rex Omar, Okyeame Kwame, Kojo Antwi, 4x4, Samini, Obrafour, Castro, Bradez, Becca, Okomfour Kwaadee, Kwaw Kese amongst others.

Painting a future of MUSIGA under his tenure, the music producer said he was going to do the things that Obuor has been advised to do but has failed to do

" I'm a member of the Executive committee and the communication team as well but he [Obuor] does not listen and I feel he is very reluctant because all the people he is contending with doesn't see them as a threat"

"So I have decided to take that mantle myself and do it because if he is not going to do it and the future of this industry if not well structured is going to be very devastating" he continued.

Appiah Dankwah also promised to “build a national studio where musicians who are part of MUSIGA and pay their dues will get it for half price". He believes a national studio will help young musicians with a platform to promote their songs.

Appietus fears that MUSIGA risks alienating the youth if new leadership does not take control from the Obuor administration.

"I'm going to make sure all those things he didn’t do, I will make them and more", the music producer vowed.

Meanwhile, the four year tenure of the incumbent President Obuor will come to end in October this year and has signalled intentions for re-election.
