Kumasi-based gospel musician Jack Alolome says he will never sing for free in any church because as an artiste, he needs money to take care of his basic needs.

Speaking on Luv FM's Oseikrom Top Chart Show with Austine Woode, the 'God Will Make A Way' hit maker said, 'Music is all I do hence I can't be playing free shows and beg others for money to take care of my family.'

Jack Alolome was responding to a question on why gospel musicians charge money to minister in churches when they actually claim to be doing the work of God.

'How can I travel to Accra from Kumasi to perform in a church and after the show, you put a small amount in an envelope and expect me to be ok when I need to pay my utility bills?' he asked.

'I will open the envelope and if the amount is just for transport, I'll confront the organisers of the programme that since the programme is sponsored, they should add something to it.'

Speaking on the same show, Rev Duter Mensah of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) said gospel musicians should not see their calling as a money-making venture but a calling to do God's work.

He, however, added that 'if music is the only thing they are involved in, then they should be paid well to help them take care of their families.'
