30.03.2015 LISTEN

The story of Ghana's independence and the roles played by key actors in the independence struggle is varied, albeit interesting.

On Joy FM's Ghana Month programme to commemorate the 58th Anniversary celebration of Ghana's independence, Beatrice Dadson wife of Kwamena Dadson, a key member of the Convention People's Party narrated the role her husband played in the struggle for independence.

In an interview with Joy FM's Cosmopolitan Mix, Doreen Andoh, the aged yet beautiful Beatrice Dadson narrated how the CPP was conceived in their own home and how the party won independence for Ghana.

She also narrated how after independence, her husband became an enemy of state and how the young pioneers, fabricated lies about her husband.

In the end Nkrumah announced a referendum but never had the opportunity to carry through with it.

In the place of the referendum was a revolution, partly to take away perceived 'enemies' of the Nkrumah government from the state machinery, Beatrice Dadson reported Kofi Baako as saying.

Listen to the interview with Beatrice Dadson on Joy FM's Ghana Month programme.
