Amazing Wins Celebrations Season II

After thirteen (13) weeks of keen singing competition for ten (10) choir and Acapela groups, 'Amazing' a singing group based in Assin Fosu in the Central Region, was announced winner of Celebrations season II at the grande finale of Celebrations show.

The final show came off last Sunday, January 11, at the Calvary Temple branch of the International Central Gospel Church, on the Spintex Road in Accra; in which five (5) singing groups competed for the ultimate prize - GH₵ 10,000 and a good quality set of musical instruments.

The Celebrations show was enrolled by TV3 Network, which the Head of Brands at TV3, Mr. Felix Dontoh, once stated, was to create a platform where different music groups would display their talent in singing to praise God.

“At TV3, we bring the first in News and we are also the best when it comes to entertainment. All our programmes have specific objectives. For example, Ghana's Most Beautiful seeks to show the cultural values of the 10 regions; The 'Pulpit' also nurtures the preaching talent in the youth, etc. 'Celebrations' seeks to praise God, Mr. Dontoh once said.

The ten groups which started the competition were: Amazing from Assin Fosu; Hope Inspirational Singers (HIS) from Dansoman in Accra; Royal Sparrows, Weija, Accra; Heavenly Royals, from La, Accra and Inner Circle (ICI), Kaneshie, Accra.

The rest were: Revelators; Suhum Presbyterian Youth, Voice Network International, Live Gospel and Pipers.

The season II edition of the Celebrations show also featured a group of visually impaired singers, Royal Sparrows. They really portray the saying that “disability is not inability” with their sterling performance throughout the weeks of the competition which led their way into the final to work for the ultimate price.

After many weeks of several competitions, five of the groups were evicted along the way, leaving the other five – HIS; Royal Sparrows; Amazing; Heavenly Royals and ICI to battle out for the winner position at the final.

The Judges: Rev Yawson, Uncle Amakye and Uncle Tony Andoh, gave the groups two tasks to perform. Their performances, in addition to how they have fared throughout the thirteen weeks in the competition were what were used to determine the winner.

During the second round performance, the audience gave the Royal Sparrows a standing ovation to appreciate their performance, which according to many patrons in the auditorium, was by far the best that night.

There was a spectacular performance by Heavenly Royals when one of its lady singers, Naa Kwarley, beat the traditional 'frontomfrom' drum. She was awarded the star performer of the night.

Two singers from the ICI and Royal Sparrows group were awarded lead vocals of the night, with ICI group winning over all well-behaved group.

For the prizes, the winner, Amazing group, took away the GH₵10,000 cash prize together with the set of musical instruments and souvenirs from sponsors.

The second place was take by the visually impaired group, Royal Sparrows, received GH₵8,000. Inner Circles came third and was awarded GH₵6,000 and then Heavenly Royals taking away GH₵4,000 for taking the fourth position.

Celebrations season II was sponsored by Sasso Insecticide Spray and Coil, J'Famco Abbatoir, and others.
